NP ‘senatoriables’ top SWS survey

Nacionalista Party senatorial candidates topped the December 27-28 special survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS), which was privately commissioned by Rep. Ronaldo Zamora.
Sen. Bong Revilla, NP’s guest candidate, leads the list of 66 senatorial candidates with 55 percent of preference of those surveyed. Revilla was followed closely by Sen. Jinggoy Estrada with 54 percent; Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago (NP’s guest candidate) with 50 percent, Sen. Pia Cayetano (NP candidate) with 46 percent; Frank Drilon with 44 percent; Ralph Recto with 40 percent, and Tito Sotto with 37 percent.
Completing the top 12 are: Rep. Bongbong Marcos (NP candidate), Juan Ponce Enrile and Sergio Osmena who are tied in eighth-10th place with 35 percent each; Teofisto Guingona Jr. is in 11th place with 25 percent, while Joey De Venecia III got the 12th spot with 23 percent.
The other NP “senatoriables” who garnered double-digit percentage points are: Gwen Pimentel with 17 percent and Gilbert Remulla with 14 percent. The percentage points garnered by other NP senatorial candidates are as follows: Mon-Mon Mitra, nine percent; Adel Tamano and Satur Ocampo, both with seven percent; Col. Ariel Querubin, six percent; Susan Ople and Liza Maza, with four percent.
In the same survey, NP president and standard-bearer Sen. Manny Villar closed in on Liberal Party presidential candidate Sen. Noynoy Aquino. Villar got a 33 percent rating while Aquino scored 44 percent or a difference of merely 11 percent. Villar’s six percentage surge came less than three weeks from his 27 percent in an earlier December 5-10 survey of the SWS.
Some 2,100 respondents were polled on the question: “Sa mga sumusunod na pangalan sa listahang ito, sino po ang malamang ninyong iboboto bilang Presidente ng Pilipinas, kung ang eleksyon ay gaganapin ngayon?” The year-end special SWS survey has a plus/minus 2.2 percent margin of error.  [paid advertisement]
