Avisado eyes sychronized legislative-exec agenda

Davao City first district councilor-elect Wendel Avisado wants to have a synchronized executive and legislative agenda, now that the former vice-mayor, Sara Duterte, is the mayor-elect and the outgoing city mayor, Rodrigo Duterte, is the vice-mayor-elect of Davao City.
As a former city administrator, Avisado is no stranger to the issues, problems, and challenges in the city government. This pushed him to propose for a three-day strategic planning by the incoming 16th City Council where they could draw up a legislative agenda.
“We will find out what have been done, what are still running in the mill, and what have yet to be attained,” he said during the other day’s Kapehan sa Dabaw held at SM City Davao.
The planning would be the take-off point for synchronization with the executive agenda.
Avisado did not point which direction the new administration should take and left the decision to the young Duterte.
“We should ask her what she feels should be pursued. All we can offer is to marry both executive and legislative agenda by coming up with a solid legislative support.” he said.
In previous interviews, the new mayor bared plans of re-inventing the city government by focusing most on investment promotion along with tourism, peace and order.
Avisado supported such plan by prioritizing on areas which can produce fast.
The city, according to him, barely had an income of P2.3 billion when he first sat as city administrator and doubled when he left the position.
He said that peace and order would still remain as one of the priorities in the new government.
“The people voted for us because of peace and order. They want to feel secure, even the investors, would first consider peace and order before they come in and pour money for investment.”, he said.
Avisado added that the reason for the previous administration’s focus on peace and order is for development to come in simultaneously.
