Public-private partnership now promotes biodiversity

As popularized by President Benigno Aquino III, another model of public-private partnership or PPP is being pushed in Davao City to promote biodiversity.
Environment and Natural Resources 11 regional technical director Manny Isip showed how both public and private sectors in the community become one in Davao’s biodiversity.
Both groups organized a Fun Run for Biodiversity as its way of conveying the message to the people on the need for environmental awareness.                                            Page 5
This timely activity aims to encourage more people to join the cause. Set for November 21 at 5:30 am, the Fun Run for Biodiversity will start at the Camella NorthPoint, Bajada going to Agdao and Buhangin.
Registration fees are at P200 (with singlet), P100 (without singlet, and P50 (special rate for students and senior citizens).
The fun run is the activity organized by the government sector, some private groups like the Davao Region Tourism Council, Davao Medical Society and the Federation of Davao Region Chambers of Commerce in announcing their partnership for the conservation of Davao’s biodiversity.
“It is not possible to increase the number of tourist arrivals if the government and private entities will not work together to ensure a healthy environment and booming economy, as well.” Isip said.
The group is also holding the first Davao Biodiversity Summit on November 25 to formulate a tripartite action plan, with monitoring and evaluation mechanism. [PIA 11/Mai Gevera]

The plan will help advance efforts, initiatives, and projects that intend to reduce threats to biodiversity conservation.
