NGCP implements contingency measures

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is immediately implementing contingency measures to mitigate the possible impact of a tsunami and/or earthquake on power transmission operations and facilities.
All System Operations (SO) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) personnel of NGCP in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao have been alerted to take all the necessary precautions. Maintenance personnel of particular NGCP installations at provinces, which are expected to be affected per the tsunami alert of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs), are now on standby.
NGCP is also making sure all telecommunication facilities, equipment, vehicles, and materials and supplies necessary for the repair of possible damages on transmission facilities  are available in strategic areas.
As an additional precautionary measure, all of NGCP’s scheduled maintenance works on selected facilities nationwide have been suspended. These areas where NGCP’s facilities are located include Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Quezon, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Samar, Leyte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental and Davao del Sur.
