Council top performers are Braga, Duterte, et al

Councilor Pilar C. Braga is one of the top performers of the Davao City Sangguniang Panlungsod. Based on the Semi-Annual Performance Report of the 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) covering the period of January to June 2011, Braga was the top performer in terms of council session attendance, committee and public hearings conducted, resolutions and ordinances sponsored and passed.
Prepared by the SP secretariat, the report cited the council’s committee on energy, transportation and communication chaired by Braga as the top standing committee with an output of 52 resolutions, and one ordinance within the first six months of 2011.
Braga attended 24 out of 25 council sessions, had one special privilege leave and a total of 27 privileged speeches. In terms of sponsored resolutions, Braga is among the top five with 132 sponsored resolutions and ordinances. The others in the top five are councilors Paolo Duterte with 192, Apostol (157). Ibuyan (100) and Abellera (92).
Braga had the most number of committee hearings conducted with 18 covering 114 items under the committee on energy, transportation and communication. Following Braga are councilors Cabling with 17 committee hearings, Galicia (14), Al-ag (11) and  Louie John Bonguyan (9).
Braga again leads other councilors 35 sponsored ordinances. Her work within the same period resulted in 346 co-sponsored resolutions, 2 co-sponsored ordinances, 94 proposed resolutions and 35 proposed ordinances.
Braga is credited with having authored and passed during the first six months of 2011 the ordinance that required drivers of PUVs in the City of Davao to secure an official ID issued by the city government (Ordinance No. 071-11) Braga headsing the Traffic Code Team which is working on the formulation and drafting of the Traffic Ordinance of Davao City, a landmark legislation that Braga bequeaths to her constituents before her term as councilor ends in 2013.
Aside from being chair of the committee on energy, transportation and communication, Braga is also vice-chair of the committees on appointments & govt. reorganization; education, science & technology, arts & culture; and health and as member of 10 other committees in the Council.
