Art at the park

An outdoor art exhibit was held at People’s Park last March 18-19, 2017, that aimed to make art inclusive and closer to the community. “ABOUT”, named amusingly because it literally means “Art Between One Thousand Up to Twenty thousand” (pesos), featured over 30 artists from five groups based in Davao City and in Manila: Big and Small Art Company, Durer Art Gallery, Tabula Rasa, United Durian Artists, and Guhit Pinas Davao.

The successful “art in the park” exhibit was made more charming because of its combined natural and urban backdrop, that is People’s Park; and with the flocking of not only birds, but crowds of people in the area, it is not hard to fantasize being in a real and established art city, much like that of Paris, while the wind and the sun flows throughout your art and cultural panoramic experience.

ABOUT head artists, Jotyl Jan Bermudez, said that through this exhibit, he is hoping that artists will weave a stronger community and encourage collaborations and regular gatherings. “Art brings people together and that’s what we aim to do in this event and to showcase artistry and talent,” Bermudez said.

Big and Small Art Company was represented by Aubrey Caabay, Aubrey Fajardo, Chester Calayag, Gino Nagret, Manuelito Pacquing, Alvin Paraguison, Froilan Pastrana, Alvin Sales, Gemo Tapales, Charles Dematera, Bullet Dematera, Ferdie Dematera, and Ferdinand Ruins.

Durer Art Gallery artists were Jotyl Jan Bermudez, Renato Pilapil, King Nelson Duyan, Sherwin Mara, Qric Batilaran, Romilo Nadonza.

Tabula Rasa artists showcased their masterpieces and were comprised of Dinky Munda, Brando Cedeño, and Daryl Descallar.
