Creating a memorable dining experience begins at the mere mention of the name (restaurant) or the dish itself. One way or another, the mere mention is what allows us to crave and yearn for a definite and particular taste. For pizza lovers, it’s definitely the taste, smell and texture of brick oven pizza. And in Davao, there isn’t as many brick oven restaurants as our cravings. Until Café Canary happened.
Located near an academe and inside a richly packed subdivision, Café Canary is the newest gastronomic hub to open in the city. It’s quaint, clean and relaxing – the ambiance alone is already invigorating. Pair that with a menu that’s downright specific, surely you’ll expect to drool at the first instance.
The simplicity is what sets them apart from the rest. Executive Chef Jeffrey Tabucan happily gushed about the fact that he gets to prepare, cook food and at the same time, make others feel good about the food at Café Canary. “Brick oven pizza is how a pizza should be. Here at Café Canary, we make sure that we give you your ultimate pizza experience — something you won’t get from others”, he said.
Brick oven pizza may be their main attraction but it truly is not just about pizza at Café Canary. They also serve a most delicious selection of al dente pasta with the freshest of ingredients you can taste. Choose from Spaghetti Bolognese, Fettuccine Carbonara, Shrimp Aglio Oglio, Cajun Shrimp and Penne Arabiatta. For starters, order either a plate of cheesy Nachos or their delish take on Gambas to have your tummies on a roll. Don’t blame me if you cannot stop munching on these treats. Oh and you are very welcome.
A simple service officiated by Pastor Grace Alquiza Bangisan of UCCP was held during the soft opening. Though still on their soft opening, go ahead and indulge on their delicious selection. For the best experience, order a variety and you’ll soon have a favourite without you knowing. Tip: their Ollie Sardines Pizza is amasingly delicious, their plate of Shrimp Aglio Oglio is something you’d want to last forever and their Gambas is out of this world – very naked on the taste and one that will leave an impression onto your palates.
