Food for the body is never enough; there must be food for the soul too. Food comes in the most beautiful and aromatic forms that reminds us of moments that trigger an emotion. Yes, we are but emotional eaters — yearning for a familiar something to relieve a certain something.
Bistros are as bountiful as durians in the city — when in season, that is. However, there are but a few that raise their dishes beyond just dishes. Take the Fat Cow and Dairy for instance — two of the most sought after dining places in the city that lets you enjoy a meal beyond comparison.
At the Fat Cow and Dairy, nothing speaks best of unspoken words than the exquisite dishes Chef Patrick Co creates. This young chef prepares some of the best dishes you could ever taste. That,at the end of every meal, you’d end up craving for his dishes even more.
The Fat Cow. Most often, the name alone is enough to create a stir in one’s tummy. This luxuriously beautiful contemporary bistro is Davao’s answer to your any day cravings. The menu speaks of delicately prepared dishes cooked to make you appreciate food even more. The aroma alone is enough to have you on the edge of your seat.
Chef Patrick’s repertoire is likened to a piece of art — structured and destructively delicious. Well thought off and very palate engaging.Have a go at his plate of Asian Beef Pasta that is a bit spicy but one that will have you smiling despite the spice. It’s very Asian and reminded me of Malaysia in a snap. Also his take on Angus Beef Satay with Pineapple rice — satay never tasted this good! The rice added zing to the already flavourful satay.
His take on Asian Glazed Pork Belly with Kimchi rice is also one to look forward to. That is, according to my friends (NO PORK diet since birth lol). From the looks of it, the meat is tender and oozing with flavours. The kimchi rice, accordingly, pairs well with the glazed pork belly.
Any grubfest won’t be complete without some amazing oysters, right? His Wasabi and Cheese Oysters are nothing like the oysters in town. The size alone is enough to make you shout for joy! The combination of wasabi, cheese and the taste of the sea is a solid winner.
Chef Patrick’s Chicken and Waffles with muscovado syrup is lit. Savoury chicken, fluffy waffle and sweet muscovado syrup is but a combination that’s perfect for any day munching.
Dessert time means Dairy time. With their plethora of sweet choices on display, you’d surely find a new fave every single time. Mine? A plate of Chef Patrick’s Warm Chocolate drowned in hot cream is enough to trigger my happy hormones all night long. You can never go wrong with this sweet combo.
The Fat Cow and Dairy is located at V. Mapa St., corner Mabini Extension, Davao City.
