THE ROYAL CHEF: A colorful world of food

The other thing I like about writing (about food) is eating (the food). It’s not as if I’d only take a photo and imagine the taste of the food — one needs to indulge and dive into its many flavours for one to communicate the message it seeks to convey. And that includes all the calories in between.

With the Dabawenyos love for good food, it’s no wonder that this 2017, the city has been flocked with a number of festive food bazaars. From north to south, our palates have been rewarded with flavour combinations that we rarely taste. Majority of the exhibitors are online entrepreneurs with no physical store present. Also, some of them are just present during food bazaars hence the overwhelming clamour.

The recently concluded Damosa Food Fest last September 28 – October 1, 2017 is one definite food bazaar that’s been satisfying our cravings for good food within the budget. With a plethora of food exhibitors, one could easily get lost with the aroma, sights and taste of dishes laid before them. Not to mention, the live band providing for a very lively and festive atmosphere on the background.

Decked in colorful umbrellas, a section of the Damosa Complex Parking Area was converted into a food rendezvous where yuppies, students and families flocked to savour the many delectable offerings from participating exhibitors. Helping in the promotion were tri-media personalities who were updating their social media accounts, on the dot, to promote the event. The publicity proved beneficial for the whole duration of the event.

Participating exhibitors included Swirls Ice Cream, The Griddle, Espetada, Jalan Loklok & BBQ, Chucks Snack In A Box, Egg Waffle Davao, King Kimchi, K-Cotton Fries, Lemonaddicts, Vegan, Emo’s Kitchen, Blackhog, Martillanos, Eduardo’s Kitchen, Wowffle, Teamoji, Gypsy Café, D’Lish, K-Pops Korean Chicken, Zen Sushi, Samantha’s Kitchen, Flourettes, Kra-ze Seaballs, Master Sisig, Compass 360: A World of Food, Yohkoe, Ouzo Restobar, RD Crab Shack, Bahay Kubo, Campburgrille, Ribside Grillah!, Budoys Special Buchi, Cuccinero, Goblin’s Bride, Sweet’s Hearty Meals, Classio Mobile Wood Fired Oven , Kaizen Davao, Colasa’s Bar-B-Q,Sadiq Tuna BBQ & Seafoods, German Oktoberfest, Southwing Cafeteria, Tita Rositas, Steak ni Juan, Battleground and Yolks Flower Café & Cupcakery.
