PAL launches more flights to Visayas and Mindanao

urbanissmo by kenneth irving ongDurianburg just got more connected as Philippine Airlines (PAL) launches three new flights from Davao City. Launched last November 1, 2017, PAL now flies from Davao to Tagbilaran in Bohol and Cagayan de Oro. This was quickly followed by the launch of direct flights from Davao to Zamboanga the following day, November 2.

The new direct flights are part of PAL’s expansion of its Davao hub as well as its goal of providing more convenience and connectivity, effectively bringing Visayas and Mindanao closer to each other and cutting travel time for travellers.

“Today we opened new routes from Davao so that you don’t have to pass through Cebu anymore, no more transit or transfer in Manila.” said Atty. Ronald Mangahas PAL Express assistant vice president for airport services. “These new routes will make passenger transfer more convenient and comfortable.”

Part of the airline’s new direction, the flights will all be served by PAL’s recently purchased 86-seater Bombardier Q400 aircraft which I was able to experience on a recent flight from Cebu to Davao. The Bi-Class next generation aircraft is comfortable and is truly the quietest in its class.

“Aside from the new flights from Davao, PAL will also be expanding its network from Cebu with the delivery of more Q400 as well as the new Airbus A321 NEO and the Airbus A350.” added Atty. Mangahas.

Attending the launch events were PAL’s senior assistant vice president for Visayas and Mindanao sales, Harry Inoferio, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Mike representative Aldea, PAL executives, and Department of Tourism Region XI director Roberto Alabado III.

In the sidelines, Mr. Harry Inoferio also shared PAL’s upcoming launch of new flights from Cebu. “We are launching new flights next month from Cebu. These include flights from Cebu to Camiguin, Ozamiz, as well as Legazpi, and on December 2, we will be launching thrice weekly Cebu to Bangkok flights.”

Mr. Inoferio also took the opportunity to share the opening of the new Philippine Airlines ticketing office in Matina along Mc. Arthur Highway. “This new ticketing office will allow for more Dabawenyos to book flights on PAL especially the ones living in the southern part of the city.”

PAL flies from Davao to Bohol daily while flights to Cagayan de Oro are four times a week and Zamboanga, three times a week.

Congratulations to Philippine Airlines! A big thank you to Bai Fauziah Fatima Sinsuat Ambolodto for the additional photos.
