THE ROYAL CHEF: A heritage of great dining

Life is about milestones; about memories relieved each and every single day. It’s also about creating memories out of memories to make life, itself, even more memorable. And in Davao, one best restaurant is all this — and more — Claude’s Le Cafe De Ville.

This quaint, romantic cafe was born out of a dream — to build a home in an ideal place and make roots. And then slowly the dream turned into a gustatory adventure. A delicious reality that anyone who has been to Claude’s know very well.

1996, May 1st. Claude’s formally opened their doors within the compound of the ancestral home of the Habana’s in #29 Rizal Street, Davao City. Confronted with challenges, the family struggled to keep up with culinary evolution in order to keep up with the demands and their patrons gustatory requests. Since 1996, the Le Neindre’s –Claude, Tess, Clarissa, Alex and Celine —  has never failed to offer the best — quality service, quality on the plate and the best time every single time.

“We are pleased of the reception and the love from our patrons all these years,” said Clarissa Le Neindre.  At Claude’s cafe, there is always a reason to indulge and be merry. That whiff of familiar European home cooking aroma is what sets Claude’s apart from the rest. It’s not even intimidating — just good home cooked meals prepared for you to enjoy.

The place itself reeks of romance — whatever day of the year. And that said, valentines and the holidays, as Clarissa said, are their busiest time of the year

Although our palate is not fully acquainted with French cuisine, their repertoire is not difficult to fall in love with. Hot chili shrimps, cured tuna and chicken liver pate are but some of their many offerings perfect for an any day munching.

On a quest for juicy meat? Try their roast chicken, pork medallion and their every delicious roast beef. Also on their menu is their chicken cordon bleu, beef provencale and crunchy fish fillet/fingers. Not to mention their signature creme brulee is just heaven on every bite. And not to be taken for granted, their smooth selection of crepes are just perfection on the palate.

Welcoming 2018, Claude’s has a plethora of foodie surprises for the new year. Start the year right with a One-Day Steak event on the 4th of January 2018. Indulge and welcome the new year with some juicy steak on your plate.

Come January 8, 2018,  the much awaited Grand Launch of their Weekday Brunch Buffet will formally allow Dabawenyos to savour their classic repertoire of dishes during brunch. And yes, served buffet style. Brunch buffet will be from 9am to 2pm, Mondays to Fridays for the entire month of January. Priced 600 pesos per person.

On the 19th of January 2018, Claude’s will then launch their Weekend Dinner Buffet. The mere fact that it is French menu buffet is enough to have you salivating in anticipation. The dinner buffet will be available during Fridays and Saturdays for the entire month of January. Service starts at 6pm and is priced at 750 pesos per person.

“There will be more to our repertoire of dishes”, Clarissa beamed. “Even with a buffet, we will make sure that everything that comes out of our kitchen is always good, quality food”, she added.

Claude’s Le Cafe de Ville is located at The Oboza Heritage House #143 Rizal street, Davao City
