CONSUL GENERAL of the Republic of Indonesia, H.F Berlian Napitupulu said, “On behalf of the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City, I would like to say SELAMAT DATANG or Welcome to our Honored guests, exhibitors and visitors to the 2nd Indonesian Food and Beverage Expo 2018”.
The 2nd Indonesian Food and Beverage Expo 2018 proved to be more than just successful. It received a resounding praise, not only from the local government of Davao City, but more so, from the people who attended and took their time to appreciate the products and exhibits on display during the three day event. The exhibit was held last June 29 to July 1 at the Ayala Abreeza Mall.
The exhibit featured 18 Indonesian and 40 Filipino businessmen. And for the first time, a business-to-business matching session took place. The business-to-business matching was supported by DTI, MinDa, and DCCCII.
Napitupulu said, “I would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Secretary Alonto and the Office of MinDa for their never ending support to our every event in strengthening our bilateral relations. As well as to the Regional Director and all staff of DTI Regional 11, Provincial DTI Davao del None, and Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry and all parties that make this event happen”.
For Napitupulu, their expo is very thematic and one that is outcome oriented which is part of a comprehensive effort in promoting bilateral economic and trade relations through direct trade. They focus on a certain type of industry thus giving the producers and products ample exposure.
Majority of the exhibitors, Napitupulu said, belong to the biggest agricultural product producers in Indonesia. He further shared that the 2017 exposition generated USD112,000, while last year’s manufacturing expo generated USD2.9 million.
Napitupulu, on his welcome speech, emphasized, “We bring up 21 companies from the Indonesia Food and Beverages Industry, 15 of them come directly from Indonesia not only from Java but also from Sumatra and from Bali as well as their representative from Manila and Davao. Many of them are top producers of Indonesia food and beverage products”.
In attendance were Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who enthusiastically shared some positive praises regarding the event, MinDa Secretary Datu Abul Khayr Dangcal Alonto, PHTTE President Marilou Ampuan, members of the local government, producers, spectators and media personalities.
Products that were on display included oil, coffee, biscuits, ships, juices/drinks, noodles, tea, organic coconut sugar and other agri product.
Aside from the booths, the 3-day expo also showcased Indonesian cultural performances, cooking demo, games and freebies were given.
