Dabawenyo artist JC Gonzales returns to Durianburg’s art scene after a 30-year hiatus with the launch of his solo exhibit titled War ’N’ Freaks at the third floor hallway of the Abreeza Mall last August 25.
His collection of forty-six works in pen and acrylic are his views on the Marawi Siege and on the people touched by that event.
“People are one-dimensional and the single eye featured on my works portray that” shared JC who describes himself as a social realist “People show only one side of their personality and hide everything behind their faces.”
“While creating the pieces for this exhibit, I was inspired by the 70’s song Military Madness by Graham Nash” added JC “The lines of the song, touched me as sadness is really killing our country.”
Attending as the event’s guest of honor was former Gabriella party-list representative now Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Luzviminda Ilagan.
War ’N’ Freaks is supported by United Davao Artists in cooperation with Abreeza Mall and Bintana Art Galley. The exhibit runs until September 2, 2018.
