Omotenashi is a Japanese word for hospitality. In Davao city, Omotenashi means a different thing. Basically, it describes of a specialised restaurant that houses an array of authentic Japanese restaurants operating as one. In Davao, Omotenashi means ultimate satisfaction under one roof.
For the world over, comfort equates to the presence of our parents, love of our family and of course, food. It is the familiarity of a particular situation that makes it all too comforting. On the premise of food, whatever makes the palate reminisce a particular memory is often the most comforting to the self.
Omotenashi Japanese Hub at the Matina Town Square is a favourite amongst diners. Since opening its door a year ago, the restaurant has since become a staple dining option for anyone looking for authentic Japanese fix that’s away from the hustle and bustle of the city. After a year, more than hundreds of plate after and a name change (it’s now better known as OJH), nothing compares to the magical moment you experience whenever dining with them.
Overflowing Japanese cuisine goodness is what they are most known for. With not just one restaurant inside, nothing compares to the options you are presented every time you step in. For the most part, you can never deny the hunger pangs and growling tummy. Have a blast with their selection of sashimi and ramen and still have room for their overly-delish takoyaki with different sauces to match your mood.
One other notable dish that is a must-try on their repertoire is their plate of Okonomi Yaki. This hot plate pizza (or pancake) is made up of bread crust, fried cabbage, fish flakes, seaweed and mayonnaise. Now, that’s what a pizza or a pancake should be – packed, flavoured and invigorating to the senses.
Just the right taste to hit your palate every single time. The selection of dishes they have are clean and very pleasing. Nothing excites the self than when you are able to savour every bit of ingredients in a dish. For me, that is. And at OJH, they make sure that you get the full experience.
Not just the food, OJH has the most cordial and jovial staff on this side of the city. They are attentive and will make sure that you are taken cared of. From the moment you step in up until you pay the bill, they are at your beck and call. Now, that’s one excellent service.
Happiness and comfort are always together. One cannot be comfortable without feeling elated…and vice versa. Though our palates may not be as accustomed to the clean tasting Japanese cuisine, we are but accepting to try and explore. When dining, go ahead and explore. Make it a point to try something new whenever you are dining. Their menu is but a chest-full of choices that’s sure to make you satisfied.
Crunch time? Get a plate of Ebi Mayo or Kakiage and let your worries go away. Traditional? Order a bowl of katsudon or gyudon– nothing says comfort than these babies.
Ramen lover? Look no further. They have a plethora of choices that’s perfect for any weather. For me, nothing makes me smile than a plate of California maki, tamago nigari and a salmon sashimi. That for me is heaven.
So, yes, Japanese food is truly a hit in Davao City. Not just for the fact that we love to eat but because we appreciate the clean taste of Japanese cuisine that complements verily with our spice laden palate. For what it’s worth, Japanese cuisine easily puts a smile in anyone’s face. Agree?
Congratulations, OJH. Cheers for more.
OJH is located at the G/F Unit 6-11 Ayala Business Center, Matina Town Square, McArthur Highway Matina, Davao City
