Thanksgiving is one of the most beautiful holidays that many look forward to. In Canada, it annually falls on the second Monday of October (since November 1879) and is considered a celebration of being thankful for the bounty of the previous year and of the upcoming.
This beautiful Canadian holiday highlights spending time with family and friends.
“We are grateful for your presence here tonight on the occasion of celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Davao Chapter and Thanksgiving”, Chairperson Leonilo Claudio said.
Present during the event were members and representatives from the Davao City Chamber of Commerce, American Chamber of Commerce, European Chamber of Commerce in the Southern Philippines and Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
Together with them were the past chapter members, esteemed guests who has seen the organization since day one, guests, partner institutions and members of the media.
Along with the celebration was a trip down memory lane – wherein Myrna Papas-Valdez, one of the chapter trailblazers, got into the feel of looking back at previous events and celebrations. “The dynamism of and within CanCham itself, the dynamism of our President, Julian Payne, who is always all over the country, the well-chosen and curated programs we have every meeting and more, makes this chamber one of the best.”, Valdes shared during the presentation.
She added, “There is no stiffness between the members; we can exchange views and opinions”. This gave a most resounding reception from everyone in attendance.
Thanksgiving would not be complete without wine and turkey. “Cheers to five years of CanCham” — CanCham President Julian Payne enthusiastically led the wine toasting that had everyone up on their feet.
In Canada, thanksgiving is a family event wherein the senior head of the family carves the turkey for everyone to enjoy. During the event, it was Hany Constantin, Director of Constant Integrated Project Development, who was given the opportunity to carve the beautiful turkey prepared by Marco Polo Davao.
During the celebration, certificates were distributed along with a bunch of prizes from sponsors were raffled off.
Cheers and congratulations, Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Davao Chapter!
