True, we Filipinos, celebrate the most festive, most colourful and most delicious holidays in the world over. As soon as the ‘ber’ months roll in, the parties, celebrations and excuse to indulge start to fill our calendars. And yes, nobody is complaining.
Synonymous for our love for festivities is our love for the stars. Stars that could either mean the astrological bodies in heaven or favourite actors and actresses in the big screen. Either which, we love stars.
ABS-CBN, major Philippine television network, recently brought together the biggest of stars in the country. This year’s theme was Family is Love — a title fitting for our love of family and celebrations.
The concert was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Once inside, you’d find the air filled with cheers, boisterous laughter and shrieks from ecstatic audience members. More than 90 percent of the audience were composed of youths – youths bearing colourful banners of loveteams they are supporting.
Segment after segment, ABS-CBN stars paraded on stage. Hand in hand, they gave a number of well- resounding performances that kept everyone on their feet.
The concert special was a mix of then and now. With songs and dance moves from the distant past given life by some of today’s biggest stars, the concert special gave everyone a reason to sing, bob their heads and smile from ear to ear.
The night saw performances of stars from various television shows. Millennial stars KathNiel, Jadine, LizQue and MayNard had everyone roaring with delightful glee. On the other end, Regine Velasquez- Alcasid, KZ Tandingan, Sarah Geronimo, Yeng Constantino and the rest of the champions serenaded the Big Dome with their nightingale voices all night.
Perennial kontrabido duo Jhong Hilario and Edu Manzano gave Coco Martin and the rest of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano stars a shock – a good shock that ended with love.
ABS-CBN surely knows how to celebrate the holidays, and yes, Family is Love.
