Nothing kicks off the holiday season than the lighting of the Christmas tree. Decked in the most vibrant of yuletide colours, the sparkles never fail to amaze everyone – even the Gringe. And at the Marco Polo Davao, the yuletide celebrations get better and brighter every year. “On behalf of the Marco Polo Davao family, I would like to thank everyone who came to be a part of this wonderful and meaningful evening”, said Marco Polo Davao General Manager Dottie Wurgler – Cronin.
An icon in itself, both the hotel building and lobby were elevated and festooned in the most beautiful of Christmas decors you could think of. Stepping inside, you’d be transported in “A Christmas Journey” themed interior designed specifically by Marco Polo Davao’s very own florist, Dionelo Balofinos.
Marco Polo Davao’s iconic 12 feet Christmas tree, on the other hand, tells of a beautiful story. Adorned with emerald and gold decors, the colours represent Marco Polo Davao’s 20th year anniversary.
“This Christmas will be a very special Christmas indeed especially for us in Marco Polo Davao as we celebrate a milestone this December—our 20th anniversary which is exactly a month and a day from today. Central to our celebration this year are the true Heart of Davao—the people,” shared Cronin.
The night was not just a celebration of the yuletide season; it was a night of honouring and welcoming home the members of Marco Polo Davao’s pre-opening team who will always remain a family to Marco Polo Davao — former Financial Controller Armenio Lorenzo, former Purchasing Manager Genette Lon, former Executive Chef Ed Tuason, former Executive Secretary Jorie Pascual, Director of Sales Pam Villegas, Executive Housekeeper Sally Tungpalan and Assistant Director of Sales Loreta Jabilles.
Together with General Manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin, they lead the ceremonial lighting of the tree.
The event was full of Holiday cheer as the Melodies of Marco Polo Davao, with its choir director Jeremy Sarmiento, sang their rendition of popular Christmas songs.
“May this season be a constant reminder of our purpose which is to serve. We thank you for allowing Marco Polo Davao to serve and be part of your events for the last 20 years”, Cronin ended.
