Outcomes beyond expectations: MCM Cup V2.0

Innovative – a word that encompasses how we live our lives today. From the moment we wake up until the time we close our eyes, our lives revolve around technology, clicks and online media. And for Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM), innovation is what makes life even more exciting.

The MCM Cup has been conducted at the Malayan Colleges in Laguna for 10 years. Every year, the college invites students from different schools to participate and explore the many possibilities of technology.

And with the establishment of Malayan Colleges Mindanao, the MCM Cup now has another home.

For its second run, Malayan Colleges Mindanao conducted the ever exciting MCM Cup 2018 Version 2.0. With the city’s public and private schools participating, Engr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, MCM Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer said, “We hope that it would be as bigger as such in Laguna”.

MCM Cup first run was held last February 1-3, 2018.

This year’s theme “Outcomes Beyond Expectations (OBE)” is deeply anchored on the Malayan Colleges Mindanao’s advocacy for Outcomes Based Education or OBE. It further highlights academic excellence and relevance in the society in the coming years. OBE further envisions for an active academic community committed in delivering world-class education in Mindanao.

“As we raise our efforts to promoting OBE, we also aim to be ahead in the challenge of sharing advocacy to our partner schools in Mindanao.”, Maestrecampo  shared during his speech.

Outcomes-based education focuses on three areas: Knowledge, Skills and Attitude.

For Maestrecampo, “The competition aims to demonstrate the students’ knowledge and skills in all areas.” “As for MCM Cup 2018 Version 2.0, we draw inspiration from the nurturing of knowledge, skills and attitude that OBE envisions”, he further added.

OBE is beyond a systems approach. It is developing a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM) supports the OBE system in response to the increasing demand to meet global competencies and standards.

MCM Cup V2.0 saw nine exciting events. Competitions included Cheerdance, Hip Hop Dance Competition, Digital Poster Making Contest, Math Quiz Show, Science Quiz Show, Brainmasters, Extemporaneous Speech Contest, Jazz Chant Competition and Chorale Competition.
