As a first-time screenwriter and director, Joross says the film is a dream come true for him, especially since the movie is a joint effort between him and his close friends in the industry. “I got a different kind of fulfillment from writing and directing, compared to acting. It’s like I told my own story, I didn’t just play in it,” said Joross about the movie, which he conceptualized with producer Neil Arce, and actors Ketchup Eusebio and Pocholo Barretto, who are both in the film.
The movie has proven to be a hit among iWant users. A week since “Allergy in Love” became available for free on iWant, it has earned thousands of views and is currently the most watched original on the streaming service. The film story has also piqued the interest of netizens, whose story revolves around a man who is allergic to sexual intimacy, as its trailer has recorded more than two million views.
“Allergy in Love” follows the story of Johnson Tayona (Pocholo Barretto), a man who gets extreme allergic reaction to erections. His condition and past experiences made him an advocate of self-love and even wrote a book about it to inspire others.
Incidentally, Ayama (Chie Filomeno), a lady who is going through a breakup, reads his book that helps her move on. Curious about her favorite book’s author, she meets Johnson, gets to know him, and eventually falls for him.
Also part of “Allergy in Love” is online sensation Kat Galang, with the special participation of Carlo Aquino, Janus Del Prado, and Ketchup.
Joross hopes that more people will get to see the sexy comedy film. “I received positive comments from my fans and friends. That’s why I feel blessed that iWant entrusted me with this project. All I can say is that directing is harder than acting,” he shared.
