Outcomes-based education means preparing students for a better future. At the Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM), outcomes-based education means thoroughly focusing on three important areas: Knowledge, Skills and Attitude.
OBE is changing the educational landscapes in Mindanao and in the entire country. OBE enshrines a borderless and seamless education. Being at par with international standards, Filipino graduates are most likely to succeed and demonstrate greater international mobility.
The Malayan Colleges Mindanao is at the frontlines in the implementation of outcomes-based education. With the skills and competencies that learners in the basic education program are required to master, it has now become the responsibility of educational institutions to ensure that the graduates are capacitated with right knowledge and skills.
MCM envisions a school of global standards and of great relevance locally and internationally. The Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) offers a paradigm shift in the educational philosophy and practice which accentuates a learning based mode.
In Malayan Colleges Mindanao, students are prepared holistically. With a blended learning framework, students are taught to reflect on their competencies, skills and trainings. And as a result, students have better opportunities to learn.
In other words, OBE and MCM focuses on what the learners know and of what they can do as a result of learning — as opposed to a teacher focused model that stresses what is merely presented.
MCM Cup
Malayan Colleges Mindanao aims to continually come up with an annual event that does not only promote camaraderie but more so, establish exciting competitions on a region-wide scale.
For 10 years, the MCM Cup has been conducted at the Malayan Colleges in Laguna. Every year, the college invites students from different schools to participate and explore the many possibilities of technology.
For its second run, Malayan Colleges Mindanao conducted MCM Cup 2018 Version 2.0 last December 5-8, 2018 at the Malayan Colleges Mindanao campus. MCM Cup first run was held last February 1-3, 2018.
MCM Cup V2.0 theme “Outcomes Beyond Expectations (OBE)” reflected the shift in educational philosophy. The Malayan Colleges Mindanao would like to share this paradigm and experience to all secondary and higher education institutions in Mindanao by continuing its tradition of Knowledge, Skills and Attitude type of academic competitions in one platform.
