When in Davao, we urge you to eat… like a true Viking.
Over the years, the metropolis has seen the boom of dining places. From international food chain brands to home-grown local favourites, the city is blessed with a plethora of choices on a daily basis. Now, what you need to do, is make a choice.
If you are up for comfort, then the city is laden with rustic cafes and bistros to satisfy your yearning. But if what you are after are palate familiar local cuisines then the city, like elsewhere, has a number of hole-in-the-wall diners that will surely up your eating game. The two together? Oh yes.
Vikings Luxury Buffet at the SM Lanang Premier takes you on a ‘Bankerohan Special’ binge this March. Executive Chef Anton Abad, Executive Sous Chef Keenan Gran and Junior Sous Chef Aldrian Sarana prepares an array of childhood orgasmic dishes that will surely encourage you to eat like Viking.
Served ‘street style’, the luxury buffet features palate acquainted dishes that are normally served, yes, on the streets. Typical of karenderyas, the dishes are very Dabwenyo to the core. Each dish prepared uses locally grown and produced ingredients that makes the dishes even more delish.
The curated menu includes green mango and pomelo salad (it’s acidity of the green mango complements with the neutral taste of pomelo), street food bouquet (or so I would like to call it) — crispy and grilled isaw (chicken instestine), crispy pork belly, crispy salmon skin (the best cracklings ever!), crispy spicy milkfish skin, pork bbq, and skewered crispy squid served with local vinegar.
Also part of their repertoire is inihaw na tuna belly, sinampalukang kambing (very pinoy the lasa), kilawing kambing and kalderetang kambing that’s packed with all the kaldereta goodness. They also have crispy pata and lechon macau.
Dessert need not be complicated as they have langka turon topped with durian ice cream and ube durian turon with durian ice cream, suman at mangga and biko. Adding to that, their durian drip cake (with ube filling in between soft sponges), durian and mango roll , Viking’s tablea chocolate moist cake and their intriguing pomelo brulee. Guzzle down with a glass of musk melon melon and strawberry punch (with a kick of alcohol).
Get your palate groove on and explore the streets of the metropolis. Eat, indulge and temporarily say goodbye to your calorie counting ways. And yes, eat like a true Viking.
