Celebrating Life: Brokenshire Memorial Hospital acquires new machineries

“Acquiring these machineries not only make us a leading healthcare provider but more so, enable us to help more and attend to more medical emergencies on a daily basis”, Brokenshire Medical Hospital Medical Director Michael N. Jamiana, MD said during the launching last 3 June at the hospital’s Emma Noreen hall.

“It was not an overnight decision. We had deliberations and meetings and at the end of the day, we saw that there really is a need”, Jamiana added. Though costly, he said, the addition of these state of the art equipments will not only help the hospital provide utmost healthcare services to patients but more so, allow the hospital to be at par with standards set forth by the community — both local and international.

A tertiary general hospital, Brokenshire Memorial Hospital (BMH) offers a wide range of medical and surgical services. Composed of a community of dedicated healthcare personnel, BMH has one of the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipments in the region.

“It really did took a time. The acquisition of new units, took more than two years. The anesthesia machines specially, it was the subsidiary corporation who bought these machineries.”, shared Brokenshire Medical Hospital President and CEO Bishop Jaime R. Moriles.

BMH acquired 3 Draeger Evita XL Smart Ventilator Machine. (Neonate, Pedia & Adult) units, 3 Draeger Babylog VN500 Smart Ventilator Machine. (Neonates dedicated) units, 5 Draeger Savina 300 Select Turbine Ventilator Machine. (Pedia & Adult dedicated) units and 3 Draeger Fabius Plus XL Anesthesia machine with Workstation Electronically Driven Ventilator (Piston) technology units. All Draeger units are made in Lubeck Germany and acquired through DUKE-R Medical (supplier).

After the approval (go signal), he added, was considered a welcome sign for all. “When the decision was met, para bang right time tlaga. Kasi sila rin naman ang nahihirapan sa trabaho, diba? At least ngayon, mas maraming units, mas maraming pasyente ang matutulungan.”, he added.

“At least maganda na ang umpisa. Medyo may kamahalan. Gano’n naman tlaga, wala namang mura when it comes to life. And every machine is fully loaded — compelete”, shared Peter Duke Reyes of DUKE-R Medical. “Then again, our products come with after-care services and quality assurance. The brands we represent has been in the health care business for a long time. So, guaranteed talaga to last and to serve its purpose well.”

The new additions were well-received by the hospital personnel and staff. “We have always have them in mind. Aside from the patients, our personnel and staff are also of our big concern”, Medical Director Jamiana shared.

Indeed, additional units meant additional patients served. And that, for Brokenshire Medical Hospital, is one of the most basic requirements that every health care institution needs to address.
