Loving Sundays

Sunday. A personal favourite just because, on Sundays, I get to sleep in and be lazy all day long. My ‘me time’ where I, for the most part, sway away from the constant beeping of online notifications and just forget about the world wide web. Oh and mostly, on Sundays, you’d see me lounging by the seashore contemplating whether I need to be more tanned than I already am. Yes, Sunday.

In the city, Sundays go beyond just being another day on the calendar. Sundays in Davao means one of the homiest dining places in the city that will spoil you even while you are eating. Case in point: Sundays Modern Home Cooking.

Sundays Modern Home Cooking is the metro’s answer to an any time, any day dining. It’s conveniently located at Davao’s Go Hotel and somewhere away from the bustling noise of the city.

Stepping inside is like going home to a weekend with your family and friends. Designed with zen-like blotches of greens, oranges and wood brown, Sundays is a definite gastro dining place that will surely have you saying goodbye to your calorie counting ways in an instant.

Aside from its aesthetically pleasing interior, Sundays also has a delectable menu that’ll surprise even the pickiest of eater in your bunch. What they have are culturally appealing and palate quenching favourites that we’ve since grown to love. From heirloom dishes to fusion dishes, Sundays is one ultimate foodie destination in the city.

Personally, I love the simplicity of their menu. Their dishes are not as complicated as one would expect them to be. One notable favourite amongst diners is their malunggay soup that’s rich and very filling. More so, their plate of beef salpicao is one to look forward to. With or without rice, expect an explosion of savoury symphony on your buds.

Sundays also is a meat eaters paradise. I adore their sizzling pochero that’s captivatingly addicting up to the last bite. My friends also rave about their bowl of humba that’s soft, juicy and tender to the bite. On the one hand, I love their crunchy calamares that simply reminds me of the sea.

For that authentic Davao taste, go order a plate of their pomelo salad. Like seriously, the dish will take you on a city adventure in a snap.

Despite the familiarity, I suggest going beyond what your palates are used to. Explore their menu; you might end with a new favourite.
