Last September 13, 2019, The Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia in Davao City headed by Hon. Consul General Dicky Fabrian and Madame Fera Andriani Fabrian hosted a diplomatic reception to commemorate the 74th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia held at the Dusit Grand Ballroom of the Dusit Thani Hotel Davao at Lanang.
On this occasion, the guest of honor was Davao City Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte represented by Hon. Isidro Ungab, Acting Vice Mayor of Davao City.
Indonesian Consul General Dicky Fabrian opened the event with a brief welcome to all the guests who came to the prestigious occasion and highlighted series of events and efforts to cultivate the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Philippines.
Congen Dicky also emphasised H.E. President Joko Widodo statement, that Indonesian foreign affairs will be more centred in humanity as the main reference as a Southeast Asian country, Indonesia would continue to contribute to world peace, and global prosperity.
Furthermore, Congen Dicky announced the much awaited maiden flight of Garuda Indonesia on September 27, 2019. This, together with the sea connectivity developments In the expanded BIMP-EAGA framework, namely Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia; Bitung, Indonesia and Davao City, Philippines will bring people and commerce closer to one another.
In addition, Congen Dicky explained the economic relations between Indonesia and the Philippines has grown significantly from January to June 2019 with an increase to 3.27 billion USD from 3.26 billion USD during the same period last year between the two countries.
“Indonesia-Philippines bilateral relations remain stronger as ever,” congen Dicky added. “Indonesia has continued the steadfast in its commitment to Its endeavour and commits in pursuing mutually beneficial plans for both countries.” With concerns to protect and develop the areas of cooperation concerning citizens, Congen Dicky expressed his gratitude to the existing collaboration of the Indonesian and Philippine governments.
The reception also featured cultural performances from students of Sekolah Indonesia Davao and a photo exhibition of the different activities of the Indonesian Consulate General promoting Security Cooperation, Socio Cultural Cooperation, Economic and Trade Cooperation, Serving and Protecting Indonesian Nationals, Indonesian way of 74th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City and the successful Wonderful Indonesia: Tourism, Food and Trade Expo.
The reception was attended by around 300 guests, comprising of foreign and local dignitaries, diplomatic corps, local government units, business sectors, academe and media partners.
