Foods for the forthcoming Christmas season

Filipinos love to eat. And food is one of the reasons why people gather. The Big Fat Tummy’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, is very much aware of it.

Because of this, the resto is offering a new kind of food on their menu. We had the opportunity of tasting the mouthwatering foods that will surely make your tummy full after a fine meal.

“We have prepared something for everyone – especially to those who want something new,” said Armando T. Mortejo, a consultant and a food connoisseur.

“From fish to chicken, from Chinese foods to Western foods, we have it,” said Kristoffer Tan, owner of the restaurant. “We are hoping that you will like the food we have prepared. If you like these foods, then we are sure our customers will like them, too.”

Tan launched the various kinds of foods during the first week of September. “The foods are also our way of greeting the Christmas season,” he said.

The Philippines, after all, celebrates the longest Christmas season in the world. Once the month ends in “ber,” the Yuletide season also starts. So, from September until December, expect that those foods we have tasted will be served to their customers.

Three chefs have showcased their flair in bringing the foods that don’t only captivate your eyes but also make your tummy satiated. Once you have tasted them, you will always crave more.

Chef Roldan J. Navarro prepared scrupulously the following: sizzling malasugue, sizzling tuna, sizzling gambas (my favorite), sizzling sweet and sour pompano (another favorite), steamed pompano, and honey glazed chicken.

The following are meticulously created by Chef Felben F, Villones: mixed seafood in aligue sauce, salted egg shrimp, garlic smothered jumbangus (just the name of it will make your mouth water), sizzling bangus a la pobre, and baked cheesy bangus.

Not to be outdone are the creations of Chef Jhomar Ian G. Gumanit: BFT’s seafood pizza, BFT’s creamy spinach pizza, BFT fish and fries, BFT California maki roll, BFT golden curry chicken, beef osso, buco chicken satay, BFT golden mozzarella, BFT kani salad, BFT seared tuna veggie, salad cream of broccoli soup, and shrimp basil pasta.

You may be wondering why Big Fat Tummy? The reason for the catchy name, according to Tan, is for the customers to be really satisfied by the affordable food they had eaten and the good service rendered to them.

He is a nurse by profession but loves food, particularly steak (you can order either prime or wagyu). And so, when he decided to open a restaurant, he wanted to be known for its steak too. As pork is not served, he opted to offer seafood.

“In my restaurant, I try to combine Asian and Western cuisine,” said Tan, adding that his target customers are from class A to D. And yes, there is a parking area available for those who want to eat inside.
