The city council of Davao will be allotting P4.5 million for livelihood project and another P3 million for medical assistance coming from the P8.9 million donated by the private sectors in the aftermath of the Roxas Night Market bombing incident.
“The city council of Davao was in receipt of an endorsement coming from the City Mayor’s office requesting the city council to use the trust fund or the donation received out of September 2 bombing in Roxas Night Market,” Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said during the Pulong-pulong ni Pulong on Tuesday.
He revealed that out of the P9.9 million total donations gathered, the executive office proposed a P4.5 million budget to be used for livelihood programs for the victims and a P3million budget for the medical assistance for the survivors who are still undergoing treatment.
“All we have to do right now is to have an ordinance from the city council authorizing the mayor to use the amount for appropriation purposes,” he said. “The committee will recommend this, I am just asking for the program design. We have to get the program design consistent to the ordinance.”
The councilor said that the livelihood project which will be initiated by the city social services will be of help especially for the victims who have been incapacitated to work because of the unfortunate incident.
As for the survivors who are in need of medical assistance, 11 of them are still undergoing therapy and one victim is up for operation.
On September 2, 2016, 14 people were killed when a bomb exploded at Roxas Night Market and injured 67 others.
