‘Baste’ all-out for Tapa King

Tapa King brings to the public a home cook style of meals in today’s overly-staged, filtered, and curated world.

Since the opening of the first TK store in Davao in 2015, the fast food chain continues to advance its presence in Mindanao.

“As we expand our presence in Mindanao, we wanted someone who completely embodies the way we serve food,” said Tapa King executive vice president for operations, Sandro Gonzales during the Tapa King press conference at Tapa King Quirino Branch Davao City on November 29, Wednesday.

“Baste has authentic Filipino grit, the kind who eats without pretenses. What you see is what you get with him, which is essentially what we are,” he added.

During the press conference, Sebastin “Baste” Duterte told Edge Davao that he had known Gonzales for a long time and that he loves cured beef.

“Pagdating sa pagkain, I’m the type who enjoys what I want, kahit sa’n pa man ‘yan. Wala nang arte-arte. The best for me ‘pag relax lang, when it makes me feel at home. ‘Yun ang gusto ko sa Tapa King – ‘yung parang may lutong-bahay kang mauuwian,” said Baste.

“Ako ganhan man gyud ko ug tapa, lisod jud mangita ug tapa unya ug mangita ka ug taa diretso nalang diri sa Tapa King. Diri ganahan jud ko sa ilang Tapa Flakes,” he said.

He said that aside from Tapa Flakes he also like the burger of Tapa King.

The Tapa King branches are located at SM Ecoland, Quirino and SanPedro in Davao City and at Divisoria and Elipe in Cagayan De Oro. They also have Budget Tapa King Kiosk branches at Maa, Caliclic, Cabaguio, Iligan City and Cotabato.

In 1987 as a humble intent to provide classic home-style Pinoy favorites along Gallardo Street in Makati, Tapa King has now grown into a well-known provider of pure meal goodness with over one hundred branches nationwide, four of which are located abroad (Three in Dubai and one in Singapore).
