City, NCCC, SSI to help victims of NCCC fire

Various kinds of assistance will be extended to the victims and relative of the December 23 fire that leveled to the ground the NCCC Mall Davao at the corner of McArthur Highway and Ma-a Road in this city.

The assistance will be given by the city government of Davao, the NCCC Mall management and the SSI call center.

City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio met with the mall management and SSI last December 26, Tuesday, to discuss the assistance to be given to the families of the victims of the NCCC mall fire that happened last December 23, Saturday.

“The City Government will shoulder the expenses in the hospital, in the funeral parlor and the cemetery,” according to Mayor Duterte-Carpio in a press conference held at the Davao City Hall on December 27.

The lady mayor said that the city government will give cash assistance to the families.

She said that Research now SSI will also give cash assistance and will match the livelihood package of assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment. The NCCC group will give cash assistance and take in the child of those who dies as their scholars because they have a foundation that gives educational scholarships.

“Ang sabot namo is that NCCC will take care of the employees nila na nawalaan ug trabaho,” Mayor Sara said.

“Representatives of the People’s Republic of China will also come to the city after the New Year celebration to give their assistance to families of those who died in the fire and those who were affected of the floods because of typhoon Vinta,” she added.

The lady mayor did not disclose the amount of cash assistance that the families of the victims will receive.

“Naa na’y amount ang city, naa nay amount and NCCC, naa na’y amount ang SSI but they left it to me kung i-announce or dili and upon discussion with the city legal and lawyers, dili namo I-annouce ang amount to protect the families,” she said.
