5.6-magnitude quake hits Davao Oriental

DAVAO CITY – A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Oriental at 4:03 am on Wednesday, January 16, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The epicenter was located 149 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso town and had a depth of 49 km, Phivolcs said.

No damage was expected but there will be aftershocks, it said.

The quake was felt at Intensity IV in Davao City and Santa Josefa, Agusan del Sur.

Intensity III was felt in Alabel, Sarangani, Intensity II in General Santos City, Kiamba in Sarangani, Kidapawan City, Gingoog City, and Tupi, South Cotabato; and Intensity I in Cebu City, and T’boli, South Cotabato. (MindaNews)
