Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio urged Dabawenyos to support local restaurants, especially those catering ‘take-out only’ services, in time for the long weekend.

A four-day long weekend looms from August 21-24, 2020.

The non-working holidays include August 21, Friday, which is Ninoy Aquino Day; and Aug. 24, Monday, or the Araw ng Pasasalamat, which is one of the highlights of  Kadayawan sa Davao 2020.

The mayor bared that the city government of Davao has received the Executive Order (E.O) declaring August 24, 2020 or Araw ng Pasasalamat in relation to Indigenous Peoples Day in Davao City as holiday while August 21 is Ninoy Aquino Day.

“We have the weekend on August 22, Saturday, and 23 Sunday and then on Aug. 24 is a Holiday as it is our Araw ng Pasasalamat,” she said.

“Stay at home man ta mag-palit ta ug take-out sa atoang mga restaurants. Sa adlaw sa Friday, lahi nga restaurant, pagka-ugma lahi na pud. Pagka-Sunday lahi and pagka-Monday lahi na pud ang atong palitan na restaurant because it’s a four-day weekend so there should be an activity na hinumdumon nato ang atoang Kadayawan celebration. Or mupalit ba sila ug daghan kaayong rambutan and then mag eat-all-you-can rambutan sila. Mupalit sila ug Durian one or two pieces and share it with their families” she added.

The mayor reminded that while inside their homes, Dabawenyos must plan Kadayawan activities for their family.

“During the evenings, they can do the watch party kauban ilang mga anak ug pwede nila i-hook up ilang mga computers or TV dinha sa internet. Families can watch especially tong mga bata. Puwede pud sila mubuhat ug lain activity sa ilang balay,” Mayor Sara said.
