Mayor Quirina Sarte of the municipality of Bansalan, Davao del Sur, is hoping that most if not all of the 6,760 eligible population of the town’s senior citizens will be vaccinated to be protected against COVID-19.
Sarte said that they have been preparing the vaccination flow and vaccination sites for the A2 priority group expected to be rolled out this week.
Once the vaccines will be available, the mayor said that they will need to clusterize the 25 barangays to have one vaccination site per cluster, and will set up the vaccination sites at strategic areas which will be accessed easily by the vaccinees.
The municipal government has tapped the barangay councils and national government agencies like the Department of Education to help in explaining to the senior citizens the importance and advantages of being vaccinated against COVID-19.
Sarte urged the senior citizens in Bansalan town to submit to vaccination, saying “this is for our safety.”
The Rural Health Unit in Bansalan has continued to lead the vaccination team this week for the remaining health care frontliners or the A1 priority group.
Atty. Kirby Villaraiz, the local government’s vaccination program focal, bared that a total of 2,212 health care frontliners in the municipality have been inoculated of the first dose of either the Sinovac (1,292) or Astrazeneca (920) vaccine. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
