The newly arrived Pfizer vaccines coming donated by the United States government thru the COVAX facility will beef up the vaccination program of the City Government of Davao.
“We are grateful for this additional doses now that we are in the preparation in extending the administration to the A4 group, or frontline personnel in essential sectors, the arrival of these vaccines will ensure that the most number of Dabawenyos will be vaccinated at the soonest possible time, leading us to a faster vaccine rollout to the rest of the community,“ said the acceptance message of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte read by City Health Office OIC Dr. Ashley Lopez.
Around 210,600 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines arrived on June 10 and 11 in Davao International Airport.
The City Government is ramping up its vaccination program with 21 vaccination sites including the mega vaccination site in Azuela Cove that can cater to 1,000 vaccinees per day. Currently they are inoculating A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbildities).
The city is hoping to achieve herd immunity from COVID-19.
