The provincial government of Davao del Sur has distributed this week more than P8.49 million financial assistance to 2,157 beneficiaries under the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
The assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has supported and benefited the disadvantaged/displaced workers from the seven municipalities of the province, who have been affected by the pandemic.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Herbert R. Gonzales led on Thursday (June 3), the distribution of P3,960.00 to each of the 1,704 individuals from the towns Hagonoy, Padada, Sulop, Magsaysay, Matanao, and Malalag.
In Kiblawan town, 453 residents received on Wednesday (June 2) the cash assistance which totaled to P1,793,880.00.
“Ipalit dayon og bugas, sud-an, basic nga mga panginahanglanon. Kay wala ta masayod kanus-a mahuman ning COVID-19 (You buy rice, viands, basic needs. Because we are yet uncertain of when COVID-19 will end),” Congressional District Officer Irick Agbon urged as he explained the significance of the program to the beneficiaries.
DOLE has allocated P17 million TUPAD Program funding to the provincial government through the efforts of Congresswoman Mercedes Cagas. (PIA-XI, Carina L. Cayon/PIO DavSur)
