Public and private teachers, non-teaching personnel set for vax

The Department of Education Schools Division of Davao del Sur will be rolling out their vaccination drive for all teachers and non-teaching personnel from the public and private schools in the province.

The vaccination launch will be held at Manga Central Elementary Schools in the municipality of Matanao, in time for the opening of classes for school year 2021-2022 on September 13, 2021.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nelson Lopez said that the vaccination drive which will be administered by the division’s medical team, is in coordination with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Davao del Sur.

Lopez said they have identified a total of eleven (11) vaccination sites and schedules starting Sept. 13 to October 7, 2021, with a target of 150-200 vaccinees per site.

He added that the largest number of target vaccinees of 283 will be accommodated on September 20 at Villa Doneza Central Elementary School in the municipality of Bansalan.

DepEd Davao del Sur’s vaccination drive will be held simultaneously with the vaccination activities of the PHO in same schedules and municipalities, but in separate venues.

The other schedules are: September 15 (Matanao); September 17 & 20 (Bansalan); September 22 & 24 (Magsaysay); September 28 (Malalag); September 30 (Sulop); October 1 & 6 (Hagonoy); and October 7(Kiblawan).

Lopez asked all teachers and non-teaching personnel in all primary and secondary schools in the province to support the vaccination program to get protection from the deadly COVID-19.

Provincial Director Richard Ortiz of Civil Service Davao del Sur field office has reported last week that there were five deaths recorded from DepEd Davao del Sur (3) and DepEd Digos City (2) due to COVID-19 complications.

The 121st Philippine Civil Service anniversary celebration this month in the provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental has been dedicated to the state workers who died and who are afflicted with COVID-19. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
