Dabawenyos gave President Rodrigo Duterte a warm reception as he came up to his polling precinct at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) to cast his vote on Monday.

The crowd cheered when the President faced them outside of his polling precinct after he cast his vote and expressed his appreciation for the support given to him and his family.

“Dungog na ko ninyo? Wa ko kadungog ngari. Siguro tiguwang na gyud. Daghang salamat sa inyong tanan sa paghimo nakong Presidente. Ako magpabilin inyong sulugoon. Unya ako nia ra sa Davao so basig civilian na ko, og unsa may akong mahimo nimo, sama sa akong giingon niadto pa pagsugod nako pagka-mayor, ako si Rodrigo Duterte, magpabilin inyong sulugoon. Daghang salamat,” he said.

The President explained that as he is about to step down from the presidency he wants the Dabawenyos to hear his heartfelt gratitude as they are the one who started his journey until he reached Malacañang.

“Ug naa man pud koy mga anak. Kahibaw ko human na mo’g boto pero og tan-aw ninyo nga maayo ang pagkadala nila sa siyudad, ako mangayo ko sa inyong tabang. Human na man mo’g boto, pahawa naman pud. Salamat nalang pud sa inyong pagtabang kanila,” he said.

The President is referring to Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, and Paolo “Pulong” Duterte-who are all winning in their respective candidacies.

The 16th President of the Philippines is set to leave Malacañang at the end of June this year.
