Davao del Sur gubernatorial candidate and Kiblawan Mayor Carl Jason Rama Bautista condemned the killing of San Jose Barangay Captain Angelito Balasbas, who was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding gunman outside his home on April 27, 2022 in Digos City.

“Gikondena gyud nato ang pagpatay kang Kapitan Balasbas. Manghinaut kita nga sa madali nga panahon, masikop ang utok sa pagpamatay,” Bautista said in a press conference on Tuesday.

Bautista said Digos City police is already tracking the perpetrator/s from closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage.

Meanwhile, Kiblawan Vice Mayor Marivic Caminero-Diamante is saddened by the incident.

Bautista called on the people of Davao del Sur to work together to stop the violence in the province.

“I hope wala na’y lain incident na mahitabo. As far as we are concerned, this is not the first time na naay nahitabo. I remembered akong isa ka tao sa Davao del Sur was also killed. Nakaagi siya ug checkpoint sa Bansalan and then gipusil siya,” he said.

This is not the first election-related killing incident transpired in Davao del Sur.

It can be recalled that Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy, a journalist, was also killed inside his apartment cum boarding house on Mother Ignacia Street in Poblacion Uno, Bansalan town in October last year.
