For vice presidentiable bet Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, it’s still too early to talk about what cabinet post she wants to get in the future as what should be prioritized now is that votes will be counted properly.
“Hindi pa po natin pinag-uusapan ang cabinet position sa ngayon dahil nakatutok tayo sa paniniguro na tama yung pagbilang ng ating pagboto,” Mayor Sara said in an interview after she cast her vote at Precinct 1245A at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS), in Brgy. Matina Crossing in Davao City on Monday.
The mayor said this after being asked if she is still interested to be a Secretary of the Department of National Defense (DND) under Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr if he wins as President.
It can be recalled that Mayor Sara popped the idea in January this year and even said she would use the Office of the Vice President to convince Congress to pass the needed legislation to make military training or ROTC mandatory among the youth.
Mayor Sara is also praying for an honest, orderly, and peaceful election. She also urged the public to go out and vote.
“Tayong lahat, kung sino man ang manalo, ay tanggapin natin yun basta seguruhin lang natin na tama ang pagbilang ng ating mga boto,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sara has also called on the Commission on Election (Comelec) to seek help from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to ensure the safety of the voters in Maguindanao. This after a shooting incident was reported in barangay Poblacion, Buluan, Maguindanao on election day wherein three persons died.
“Expected yun ng ating Commission on Elections, medyo mainit yung election diyan dahil malalaking mga families ang tumatakbo and vying for different positions. I hope that Comelec will take charge of the situation and seek out the help of PNP and AFP in ensuring the safety of the voters,” Mayor Sara said.
On the other hand, Mayor Sara left a memento of her voting by writing the Uniteam’s battlecry “Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas” on the wooden armchair that she used when she cast her vote.
It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte also signed the wooden armchair he used when he cast his vote in 2016 and it is being preserved by DRANHS.
