The city government of Davao, through the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), on Monday inaugurated the Los Amigos Police Station.
It is the 20th police station in the the city.
The event was attended by Mayor Sebastian Duterte, several city councilors, Police Regional Office XI Director PBGen Benjamin Silo, DCPO Chief PCol Alberto Lupaz and other public officials.
The 3-storey building had P13-Million budget funded by the local government of Davao.
The station’s area of responsibility covers Barangays Los Amigos, Biao Guianga, Biao Escuela, Talandang, New Valencia, Angalan, Tagacpan, and Manuel-Guianga.
Acting station commander PMaj. Elisa C. Ramirez, in an interview with Byaheng DO30, said the new station will heighten police capability and visibility in the area which will help in the maintenance of peace and order there.
“Formerly under siya sa Police Station 9, Mintal Tugbok. Karon na hati na gyud, so at least, ang coverage matutukan na gyud in terms of peace and order (This area is formerly under Mintal-Tugbok Station 9. Now it was finally divided, so at least, the smaller coverage will give way to a more focused enforcement of peace and order),” Ramirez said.
Ramirez added that under her command, the Los Amigos Police Station will not only aim to enforce the law but will strive to foster strong ties between the community and the police. She said this can be done by practicing social programs alongside security and safety measures.
“Ma-maintain gyud nato ang peace and order. Tagaan pud gyud nato og priority ang atong mga programa, especially sa education kay mao gyud na ang importante (We will really maintain peace and order. We will also give priority to our [social] programs, especially in education because that is very important),” she said. CIO
