To make up for the low turnout of booster dose vaccination and those involving senior citizens the Department of Health (DOH) will conduct a Bakunahan Bayan- PinasLakas Special Vaccination Days that will run from September 26-30, 2022.
“Based on data it is only Metro Manila that has achieved 50% for the booster doses and there are three regions who have covered 50% for senior citizens. However, for Davao Region hindi ho tayo naka achieve pa nito,” said Dr. Janis Olavides, focal person of the vaccination program of the Department of Health XI.
Dr. Olavides was referring to the target asked by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the DOH for his first 100 days of office which is 90% vaccination coverage for the senior citizens and 50% for the first booster dose of the general population.
Davao Region registered only 66% vaccination coverage for the senior citizens and 31% out of the whole year (2022) target of 70% of total population for the first booster dose.
“That’s why for the whole of the country during next week there will be the Bakunahan Bayan this is the intensive phase for first 100 still same targets natin- the senior citizens and booster doses,” Olavides said.
The Bakunahan Bayan will be held regionwide. In Davao City which reached 47.4% or 314,862 vaccinees for the first dose. The Bakunahan Bayan will be held at the malls of Abreeza, SM Davao City (Ecoland) and SM Lanang. The mall vaccination will be on weekends until October 8, 2022. (PIA/RG Alama)
