Teams of heavy equipment operators deployed for the Oplan Kalsada are working round the clock to get done the task of massive road rehabilitation in the province of Davao Oriental.
The Provincial Information Office in a report said that the operators are hoping to rehabilitate all the 552.997-kilometer stretch of roads before the rainy season comes.
Provincial Governor Corazon Malanyaon recently checked on their progress of work and their overall performance under the Oplan Karsada Program.
PIO Davao Oriental reported that as of September 23, 2022, the Oplan Karsada completed 15.37 percent of the 552.997 kilometers of provincial roads across the province.
While the Oplan Karsada primarily caters to provincial roads, Governor Malanyaon directed the Oplan Karsada management team to include those considered critical barangay roads leading to communities with large populations or essential routes for trade.
Governor Malanyaon stressed the urgency of road rehabilitation, noting that most barangays have prioritized road rehabilitation over other development projects as they volunteered to pour their provincial aid to cover the fuel requirements for road rehabilitation.
The massive road rehabilitation, or the Oplan Karsada, is one of the anti-poverty programs of the provincial government supporting the agriculture and tourism sectors. This program is part of Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon’s commitment to farmers and residents to give them respite and ease their burden in transporting people to the town center and their crops to the market.
