The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the region has provided P20,000.00 cash assistance to each of the 16 former rebels (FRs) in Davao del Sur, who are currently undergoing de-radicalization program under the Tupad Pangako Program of the Task Force Balik Loob of the NTF-ELCAC of the province.
The DSWD-XI turned over a total of P320,000.00 livelihood assistance to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Davao del Sur headed by Geraldine S. Lano.
Aside from the cash assistance, the 16 FRs are also beneficiaries of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Davao del Sur.
On the other hand, a two-day executive course on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict was successfully conducted by the 39th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, to increase the level of awareness and understanding on the communist insurgency among ELCAC focal persons in the province.
The course discussed three modules including the understanding of communist armed conflict, winning the peace, and sustaining peace. (PIA-XI/Franchette Delfin)
