Inter-agency body bolsters efforts against trafficking in Davao Region

The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking 11 (IACAT 11) is bolstering its efforts against trafficking by opening its network office at the Davao International Airport (DIA) on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Janet Grace B. Dalisay-Fabrero, regional prosecutor and chairman of the IACAT 11 network, said the opening of the new office aims to bolster and strengthen the coordinated efforts of the inter-agency members in the airport that are playing a very important role in the prevention, eradication, and detection of trafficking cases in Davao Region.

“With these efforts we have already documented a lot of incidents that we’re detected by our task force here at the airport,” Fabrero said in a press conference after the blessing and ribbon cutting of the new IACAT network office.

The office will cater minors, who are below 15 years old, and traveling alone to a domestic location without the required clearance as well as minors traveling alone to a foreign location without the required clearance.

The said office will also accommodate probable trafficking victims whether for local and international travel and probable trafficked victims offload by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

IACAT is mandated to oversee and monitor the implementation of anti – trafficking responses.

The agency provides protection to trafficked person such as legal protection, protective custody through Home for Girls and RSCC and other LGU facilities, free legal assistance (DOJ), right to privacy and confidentiality, Witness Protection Program (DOJ), and Victim Compensation Program (DOJ).
