The Office of the Vice President (OVP) can now serve indigent Filipinos after it extended its services to Region 5 in Legazpi City, Albay by opening its 10th satellite office on Wednesday.
The OVP said in a statement that the Region 5 satellite office can now cascade services and programs from the central office down to the grassroots. Among social services that the OVP offers is the Medical and Burial (MAB) assistance program which gives financial support to indigent Filipinos in need of medical attention or the burial of a family member.
In her message, Vice President Sara Duterte said the establishment of satellite offices across the country would give Filipinos access to the office’s projects implemented in the central office like the Magnegosyo Ta ‘Day livelihood project for women and LGBTQIA+ sectors, the peacebuilding efforts called Peace 911, the PagbaBAGo advocacy campaign for children’s education which also aims to plant one million trees by the end of her term, and the Pansarap anti-malnutrition campaign.
From July 2022 to July 13 this year, the MAB program has already served 94,519 beneficiaries and processed the amount of
P861,659,631.06.
Currently, the OVP has 10 satellite offices strategically located in some areas of the country. The 10 OVP satellite offices are in the cities of Davao, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Surigao, Cebu, Bacolod, Tacloban, Isabela, and Dagupan.
The vice president led the opening of the ninth office of the OVP in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Sunday. It is located along Sinsuat Avenue in Cotabato City.
