The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 (PDEA) reported that 945 out of 1,162 barangays in the Davao Region are already cleared from drugs.
“Ang meaning sa drug-cleared barangay kay usa ka barangay na affected sa drug activities and then na subject for barangay drug-clearing program,” Noli Dimaandal, spokesperson of PDEA 11, said during the Kapihan sa PIA last week at NCCC-Victoria Plaza.
He said there also seven municipalities in the region that were declared drug-cleared namely Malita and Sta. Maria in Davao Occidental; San Isidro and Talaingod in Davao del Norte; Malalag in Davao del Sur;,Mawab in Davao de Oro and Boston in Davao Oriental.
“While drug-free barangays are barangays not ever beset with any illegal drug activities pasabot wala na siyay presence ng user, pusher, drug den, marijuana cultivation site, and others,” he said.
Dimaandal attributed the clearing of barangays to the apprehensions of drug personalities through the various buy-bust operations conducted by PDEA 11, Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies.
He reported that PDEA 11, together with other law enforcement agencies, have already arrested 1,497 drug personalities from the period of January to July this year while seized P35 million worth of illegal drugs.
“Medyo ubay ubay na drug dens and drug personalities ang na apprehend in seven months. Isa sa naay contribution why a lot of drug perpetrators kay nadakpan is because daghan na pud ta ug mga barangays in Davao Region ang na drug-cleared,” he said.
