Eleven Barangays in the Davao Region have been flagged as election areas of concern under the yellow category for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Police Brigadier General Wilson B. Soliba, Deputy Regional Director for. Operations (DRDO) of the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11), said on Monday that from the 11 barangays, 10 are in Davao del Sur and one in Davao Oriental.

In Davao del Sur the barangays under yellow category are Kapatagan, Tres de Mayo, Litos, Tanwalang, Talas, Tamiangon, Poblacion, Maibo, Aplaya, and Clib.

In Davao Oriental is Barangay Ompao.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is adopting a color-coding system for identifying hotspots in the upcoming BSKE.

Under the proposed color-coding scheme, code green would mean no problem and cause for concern; while an area will be under code yellow if it has a history of political unrest. Code orange will indicate the presence of armed groups, and code red for those deemed as critical areas.

“We will prioritize and deploy more personnel with standby mobile in case something happens. Because of the previous elections the reason these areas were under the yellow category. But the way we look at it now hindi naman seguro ganon ang mangyayari uli,” Soliba said.
