Mayor Al David Uy of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) bared on Thursday that China Road and Bridge Corporation, the contractor of the P23-billion Samal Island-Davao City (SIDC) Connector Project, will establish a ferry boat landing in the Samal side for the docking of construction materials.
Uy’s statement dismissed the notion that the development of the project is on hold.
“Sa amoa na end, nagpadayon ang Davao-Samal bridge kay in fact, kay makita man kung naa mo diri sa Davao ug naa mo sa airport, makita man ninyo ang facilities sa China Road, ongoing ang pag-abot sa mga materials, pagplastar sa depot nila. In fact, nag-apply sila sa city nga magbutang sila ug ferry boat landing sa Samal side para sa pag dock sa ilang mga materials,” Uy said.
Uy added that the application of the China Road was already approved by the LGU of Samal.
“Of course, i-approve natin kasi it is a flagship project na makatabang,” he said.
Uy admitted that there are still issues on the Right-Of-Way (ROW) acquisition.
He said the 2024 General Appropriation Act (GAA) covers the just compensation for the ROW.
“Mao na to ang atong ginahulat, once mahatag ang para sa ROW, I think padayon ug ongoing siya. Dili man gyud malikayan, sa tanang government projects naa man gyud mag file expropriation case, TRO, but padayon man ang project,” he said.
