After modern buses were established in Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur to make destinations more attractive to tourists, a cable car system will soon be added to its attractions.
Renante E. Salazar, chief executive officer of MonteFrio Garden Resort, told Edge Davao that two cable cars are targeted to be available in the lower portion of the resort in the second or third quarter of 2024.
The cable cars, which will be installed to connect the resort’s two properties, will serve as transportation for guests of the resort who wish to go down to the lower portion of the resort to experience a natural hot spring with water coming from Mt. Apo.
The cable cars, which are manufactured locally and have mechanisms similar to cable cars abroad, are designed with glass enclosures for safety.
He added that the establishment of cable car system was conceptualized early this year. Currently, a parking area is being developed in the area.
“From here at the top portion of the resort, may sasakay ng cable car patawid sa 2-hectares. At kung aakyat ka naman thru the cable car din. This is the first cable car in the area and this will also offer a new experience to our guests,” Salazar said.
Aside from the cable cars, additional rooms, a garden, function rooms, and other attractions will be developed in the 2-hectare property.
MonteFrio Garden Resort, which was established during the Covid-19 pandemic and served as a family rest house, has become a tourism establishment situated more than 4,000 feet above sea level in Sitio Mainit, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur.
“Last 2020, this is a family rest house lang, In time ng pandemic, nagpagawa ng pool for the family use. During the pandemic meron kaming kaibigan ng nag vlog, nakita ang vlog, pinuntahan ng mga tao dito. Good thing lang din, i-open na lang sa public kasi nakapila ang mga tao sa labas,” Salazar said.
Current available amenities include a view deck, function rooms, and a view bar.
“What makes us unique: cool weather, complete set meron ka nang café, restaurant, bar, pool, karaoke stations, accommodations-wala ka nang hahanapin pa,” Salazar said.
