The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) wants Dabawenyos to continue practicing the culture of security amid the Marawi City bombing.
DCPO spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon bared on Wednesday that Dabawenyos are indeed practicing the culture of security. One indication is that DCPO frequently receives calls or reports from concerned citizens concerning the presents of suspicious individuals.
The Culture of Security Project is a people-centered campaign that encourages Dabawenyos to adopt vigilance as their way of life. The campaign “May Nakita? Dapat Magsalita!” is an order encouraging Dabawenyos to adopt the Culture of Security as part of their way of life.
“Mu-follow lang ang mga Dabawenyos kaning culture of security atong hinumduman nga kung naay makita dapat i-report dayon. Na observe nato na daghan ug reports nga ma receive ang police station ug kasagaran from the concerned citizen ang manawag ug nakita nato na ang mga tao naay pagsalig sa mga kapulisan,” Tuazon said during the AFP PNP Press Corps media briefing at the Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday.
Dabawenyos are reminded to practice the culture of security following the bombing incident at MSU in Marawi City on December 3.
DCPO is intensifying full alert status by enacting the Oplan Davao Defense System (Oplan DDS) and checkpoints and border control are being conducted.
“Ang hangyo namo sa mga Dabawenyos nga kung malangan sila gumikan sa traffic tungod aning checkpoints (OPLAN DDS) amo lang gihangyo ilang kooperasyon kay para ni sa kaayuhan natong tanan diri sa Davao City. Kung gusto nato ug malinawon, magtinabangay ta nga walay mahitabo dinhi sa atong syudad,” Tuazon said.
The security cluster has recently conducted a culture of security simulation exercise to strengthen the campaign “May Nakita, Dapat Magsalita” in the city.
Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) is intensifying counter measures following the bombing incident.
“Your police force in Davao Region will not allow anyone to disrupt the merriment this Yuletide Season. We will remain aggressive, along with our communities, in keeping watch on possible nefarious plans of criminals in destroying the lasting peace in our area of responsibility,” said Police Brigadier General Alden Delvo, regional director of PRO 11.
PRO 11 also committed to enhancing its personnel deployment strategy, particularly in areas of convergence such as malls, churches, transportation terminals, and various government facilities and installations.
It will be implementing stricter and more comprehensive checkpoints at the different entry and exit points in the Davao Region.
“PRO 11 will exert all efforts to prevent any act of terrorism and will uphold public safety to the best of our ability and capacity. Henceforth, we urge everyone to contribute to these efforts by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious individuals or objects to the nearest police station in your area. Together, let us work towards ensuring a safe, peaceful, and orderly Christmas season for all,” Delvo said.
