Association of Barangay Captains (ABC)-Davao City President Councilor January Duterte urged barangay captains to treat one another with respect and fairness.

Duterte attended her first regular session as a member of the 20th City Council on Tuesday at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) building after being elected as the new ABC-Davao City president.

“I would like also to take this opportunity to remind my fellow punong barangays to treat one another with respect and fairness, knowing that their views and decisions are equally important and valued. I hope that this would unite us further and foster a stronger bond with one solid family,” she said in her message during the session.

She promised that all punong barangays are welcome to express their concerns at the “Liga” office as this will always be open to everyone.

To the constituents of every barangay of Davao City, Duterte also urged them to treat their barangay officials with respect to build a strong team and be effective partners in reaching the goals.

“It may sound easy, but our work as punong barangay can be challenging and not an easy task, especially, if some of you are not cooperating,” she said.

She also said that she looked forward to working alongside each member of the City Council.

“Our shared dedication to the progress and prosperity of our beloved city will surely have a long-lasting impact. We shall protect the welfare of our constituents, our constitution, and our country,” she said.

Duterte and Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Jr. took their oath before Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain Jr. as chair and vice chair of the Committee on Barangay Affairs of the City Council respectively.
