An official of the Department of Trade and Industry-Davao City (DTI-Davao City) bared on Friday that prices of basic goods and prime commodities have remained stable since the start of 2024.

Jennifer S. Glimada, trade-industry development analyst of DTI-Davao City, reported that based on their regular monitoring of the different establishments in Davao City, there is no movement of prices and the prevailing prices still follow DTI’s suggested retail price (SRP) published in February last year.

Glimada said they conducted regular Monday monitoring every week in Calinan, Toril, Panacan, Bajada, Buhangin, Cabantian, and downtown areas.

“Based on the monitoring activities conducted last week the prices remain stable and the prevailing prices from establishments monitored the same pa last year. Wala pang movement but if the question is if the prices increased from the previous SRP, wala pa,” Glimada said during the Kapihan sa PIA at NCCC Victoria Plaza on Friday.

Last year, DTI provided SRPs for necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) such as, but not limited to, canned and other food products, bottled water, dairy, and common household or kitchen supplies.

Glimada also reminded consumers to file a complaint if they have concerns about the products they bought.

“We have the consumer handling process in the DTI. Yung consumer bibisita lang sa aming office or message in our FB page para ma assist sila on how to file the complaint. DTI would schedule mediation on both during the mediation process DTI will act as a facilitator on how they address the issue. The decision-making will still come from the consumer on the involved establishment,” she said.
